Hi, my name is Christine and I’m addicted to chips and salsa.
Like, seriously, it’s a problem.
I used to buy salsa from a local grocery store basically in bulk- it was made fresh and it was so freaking good. I was in heaven. I would basically eat my weight in salsa and my husband was actually concerned. I argued that it’s pretty healthy! It’s just pureed vegetables….and lots and lots of chips.
Then, unnamed grocery store jacked up the price of said salsa, while simultaneously reducing the container size and they changed the formula so it was way too onion heavy. I’ve been on an unintentional and unwelcome salsa hiatus ever since.
Until….I realized that I could make my own salsa. Doi. It’s so dang easy and is better than any store bought salsa floating around out there! I have played around with a few recipes, but I have to say that I pretty much use this recipe from Gimme Some Oven and just add some more garlic and seasonings. I love bringing you original, simple recipes, but if I use other people’s recipes, I will let you know!
If you like a little more heat, add another jalepeno or some serrano peppers to the recipes. If you can’t handle any heat, take out the jalepeno completely for a very mild but delicious tomato salsa.
And please, FOR THE LOVE OF HEAVEN AND EARTH AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN—– WEAR KITCHEN GLOVES when handling peppers. I was testing out this recipe with Serrano Peppers and burned myself to high heaven. I was in absolute agony soaking my hands in milk, beer, vinegar, whatever google said, for 5 hours. Wear kitchen gloves!!!
